In the kitchen....

4 July 2012

Another week of sugar free....
and its still feeling SO right.
I did have one little sugar hit this week ....a piece of cake at a friends after dinner.
I chose to have it....and I enjoyed it.... but it tasted ridiculously sweet...
and where before I would have hankered for a second piece...
this time I was just happily satisfied.

So this week I've felt a little unwell...and no....it isn't as a result of my 'no sugar' diet....as my family tried to suggest...its totally unrelated to my diet...and even though I've been sick.... I've still been able to notice the benefits of my new regime.

I made another batch of the Coco nutty granola....
as well as some muesli slice...
Plus some nice simple healthy favourites....

Like Quiche....

...and this Spinach penne and cheese spouffle....from the Veg cookbook...
This site has a cookbook review....and also a copy of the spouffle recipe if you are interested.

...and also from the Veg cookbook....
This onion tart...which looks a little rustic should I say....but actually tasted sweet and delicious.

and my little sweet indulgence this week were these....
Lemon Yoghurt Cupcakes....thanks to this Teresa Cutter recipe.... I adapted slightly and swapped the sugar for the rice malt syrup...making it acceptable to my sugar free taste buds.
I wonder what this week will bring?

  5. oooh those cupcakes look yummy - I am cutting sugar out too and love the change! I made the most gorgeous 'treat' and would love to share it with you... all you do is add one cup dates and 2 cups of raw cashews... blend them until they form a dough consistency (I use my food processor) and roll them into small balls then roll them in coconut. I keep mine in the freezer and have them as a treat after dinner with a cup of tea... these are seriously delicious and my kids go crazy for them! Enjoy! Anita Love your blog by the way!
