Sounds by the river 2014

20 January 2014

These may just be the worst photos ever taken...
but they are all I have as a reminder of the wonderful weekend we just had.
We made our way to Mannum for 'Sounds by the River' on Friday night...
it was the most memorable trip....for all the wrong reasons..
the wind was wild and gusty..
the sky was full of thunder and lightening and glowed from the major bushfires in our region
...one in the Riverland behind us..
and one in the Barossa in front of us.
We rolled into Mannum around midnight....and set up camp in a riverside spot.

The morning of the concert vanished so fast and in no time we were lined up and ready for the evening to begin.
It was hot in the afternoon.... but cooled as the sun dropped making it the perfect night.
The location was brilliant...right on the bank of the Murray with the Mannum cliffs opposite.

We were treated to a sensational line up...
Mamboobies
Russell Morris
Shannon Noel
The Black Sorrows
James Reyne
The Angels
and
Suzi Quatro

I can honestly say I enjoyed each and every one of them... it was brilliant...
and I have fingers crossed that next year works out and we can go again.

  1. You must've had so much fun! So scary about the fires down there. I hope you're all staying safe!

  2. It was brilliant Sheree..... it seemed surreal that I was actually listening live to some of my old favourite artists.
The fires were terrible....we get so used to watching others battle them....so having them on the edge of our community was very worrying. Thankfully all is well.

  3. The Black sorrows - I saw them three times in the nineties. Suzi Quatro would have been pretty amazing! The elements sound a bit scary tho!
